Eugene (Gene) Carara 82 of Colorado Springs, CO died October 7th in Sterling, CO. Memorial Service will be 11:00 am Wednesday Oct. 12th at Tennant Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery with Air Force Military honors.

Gene was born October 23, 1928 to Enos E. and Stella M. (Loyd) Carara in Pueblo, CO. Gene attended Pueblo Catholic High School, Pueblo Junior College, University of Colorado, University of Northern Colorado, University of Illinois and Adams State College. Gene served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1947 to 1950. He worked for RE-1 Valley School District from 1954 to 1984. Gene married Wilma D. Berckefeldt in 1953 in Pueblo. Gene was a member of the American Legion, Sterling Elks Lodge 1336 and was the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Coach of the Year in 1984. He also was inducted into the Colorado High School Coaches Hall of Fame in 1986. Gene enjoyed Athletics and Fine Arts.

Gene is survived by his wife-Wilma D. Carara of Colo. Springs, Children: Kris Ann Bornhoft and husband Bill of Sterling, Mark Edward Carara and wife Dee of Colo. Springs and Kay Lynn Brienzi of Plano, TX. Brothers Warren D., Richard L. and Ronald H. Carara, seven Grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Enos and Stella Carara.
